COOPER (A03990434)

Cooper is an amazing dog! He was rescued on 11/2/07 running down the middle of the road in downtown Delmar, DE. The poor boy was in terrible condition - infested with fleas and ticks, morbidly obese (he dined every night at the Old Mill Crab House dumpster & crossed the road for a nightly beer at the local VFW). He was treated for for Lyme disease, heatworms, and an eye infection. All completed on 12/28/07.

He has made lots of progress since he's been with his foster mom - he's a wonderful and kind boy and so deserving of an easy retirement! The Vet thinks he is 7-10** years old, though watching him run with the foster's Labradors, he acts like a young pup, so is closer to 7, than 10! He has an amazing spirit and has marked himself as the personal doorman for his foster home. He has become part of the family with 6 Labradors. He loves anything and everything - as long as he can see and touch people! He would not do well in a home where he is left alone or confined for long periods of time. He is a free spirit - he's lived all of his life on the road - and he craves constant companionship. He will bark and bark and bark if he is not satisfied. When he's happy, you never hear a word! Cooper is an effective communicator! He is amazing with children and gentle with the elderly. He is protective of special treats like chew bones, but who could expect less when he's had to fight for everything he's ever had? Otherwise, he's a dream.

He is crate trained, but is not fully housebroken. He is neutered and up to date on all of his vaccines.

He would be an ideal dog for a large farm where he could keep a check on things with his person. He needs a permanent home that can give him the attention he deserves. His temperament is impeccable. He hasn't met a dog that he can't get along with or a person he doesn't adore. He is a smart, smart dog, and he can be house trained with little effort. His foster mom has become quite smitten with him. We are sure, that if you give him a chance and meet him, you will be too.

**The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the records.

***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog. Individual adoption fees are shown with each dog's listing.
