Basset Rescue Of the Old Dominion

BROOD is a Basset Hound Rescue Organization dedicated to finding homes for needy basset hounds in the state of Virginia and surrounding areas. Please note that BROOD adopts dogs to qualified homes in VA, MD, DC, WV and parts of DE and PA. if you live outside these areas please check our basset links to find your local rescue organization.

During the year 2007 BROOD spent over $58,216.90 on vet bills and $25,451.20 on kenneling. We took in 108, and 117 were placed.

The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dogs is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the records.

BROOD charges a $10.00 non-refundable application fee that must be sent with all new applications. Adoption fees for our dogs vary. Each dog's fee is shown with its description.

We accept on-line application forms , with credit card payment through PAYPAL. You may still apply, using this form (and a check made out to BROOD inc.) for mailed in applications.

If you are interested in any of the listed dogs and would like to know more about them, contact the appropriate person, as listed on each page.

If you know you would like to adopt, but have not seen the right dog, then you may fill in an application form send it to BROOD. (on-line or U.S. mail, along with the $10.00 deposit). Mailed applications will take 5 -7 days longer to process, and should be sent to:

BROOD Inc
3445 Seminole Trail
Box 248
Charlottesville, VA 22911

For on-line applications follow the directions on the application form.

Then when you are ready to adopt, the process will go much faster. If you have not read about BROOD and our adoption process, please return to the BROOD home page and visit the appropriate links.

For any of the dogs that we list, check with the listed adoption coordinator for availability. BROOD's first concern is to match dogs to adopters whose lifestyle best fit the personality of the dog. When more than one potential adopter matches, the dog is placed with the first one that requested that dog. BROOD requires a house visit with the new owner(s). BROOD will not place a dog as a surprise "gift".

The following dogs have been adopted: Martha(A04025055), Stafford Henry(A03981411), and Iris(1453).
