GENERAL RAMBLE INFORMATION
BROOD's 22nd Annual Ramble Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 21. We will be at Frying Pan Park in Herndon, Virginia again this year. Registration opens at 9:30 am. The Ramble starts at 10 am. This year’s theme is Basset Pumpkin Patch. Be sure to be there to help us celebrate 23 years of saving the lives of over 3,100 hounds. There will be a day of fun activities, lunch, auctions, raffles, shopping and contests for humans and hounds alike. Be sure to come and enter your hound in the Talent Show, Costume Contest, Pie Eating Contest and the famous Basset 500 Race!
LOCATION: Frying Pan Park at 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon, VA 20171.
Directions: For directions and a map go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/fryingpanpark/#map. Use the main entrance and proceed along the main entrance road to the equestrian barn area and look for signs pointing to the BROOD event parking area. (Do not enter or park at second entrance on West Ox Road for the Visitor Center.)
What is a Ramble? The Ramble is BROOD’s premier fundraising event each year, and it is a great day to come out and meet other basset hound owners and their hounds at a beautiful location. Come and hang out with humans and hounds and support BROOD’s rescue work at the same time.

WAYS TO SUPPORT THE RAMBLE
Sponsorships for Individuals. Last year we were privileged to have 92 generous and loyal BROOD members and followers support the Ramble by becoming sponsors. The response was so great that we are offering Ramble sponsorships again this year with new incentives! Sponsors will receive special thank-you gifts: BROOD stainless steel water bottle, ceramic coaster set, BROOD shopping bag or basset notepad and pen. Each one is a thank you for your generous Ramble sponsorship!
Sponsorships are a great way to support the Ramble. Become a Harvest, Pumpkin, Scarecrow, Corn Maze or Acorn sponsor and be listed in the official Ramble program and on the BROOD website. Plus if you pledge at one of the top three sponsorship levels starting at $500 (Scarecrow, Pumpkin or Harvest sponsor) your support will be recognized at the Ramble on a special banner.

Sponsorships for Businesses and Veterinarians. Showcase your business or vet clinic/practice at the Ramble and support BROOD at the same time by becoming a a Harvest, Pumpkin, Scarecrow, Corn Maze or Acorn sponsor. Your business will be listed on the BROOD website for a year as part of your sponsorship.

Vendor Booth Rental. Last year we had great vendors at the Ramble and hope to again this year. For only $50 you can showcase your business and sell items. Or donate an item worth $50 or more and your booth rental will be free!

Obtain Pledges from Friends and Family. Before the Ramble, we ask that you gather "pledges" from your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Remember all those Girl Scout Cookies you've bought over the years -- now it's payback time! A pledge sheet is available which will allow you to keep track of the pledges you get. All pledges are tax-deductible for the giver.
Sponsor a Raffle Basket. For a $50 sponsorship, you can sponsor a basket and our volunteers will do all the work! They will take care of gathering the items for the basket and putting the basket together. And your name will be on the basket at the Ramble!

Donate Gift Cards for the Gift Card Raffle. We are having a gift card raffle at the Ramble and need $25 gift cards. Pick your favorite national restaurant or retail store chain and mail the cards to: LeeAnn Williams, 5829 Biscayne Drive, Alexandria, VA 22303. You can also bring cards to the Ramble.
Order Ramble Tee Shirts. Order screen printed tee shirts for the Ramble with the Joan Portner Basset Pumpkin Patch design. The shirts are only available by ordering online and we will have shirts for children, men and women, in both short and long sleeve. Orders must be placed by August 28.
Donations on the Day of the Ramble. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need your support. Donations of $50 and above made the day of the Ramble at Registration will qualify you for special thank you gifts: BROOD dog waste bag dispenser or BROOD leash. Not a BROOD member? Join at the Ramble and receive a BROOD dog waste bag dispenser.

Food at the Ramble. We will have lunch with hot food and drinks galore.
Ramble Games and Contests. We will have a Costume Contest this year, and anything goes! Dress your dog in any costume and maybe you will win one of the prizes. We also have the Pie Eating Contest again this year. So start training your hound now! Yum!!! Other contests are: Longest Ears, Best Howler/Vocalist, Best Tail Wagger, Best Butt, Biggest Paws and Best Mixed Up Breeds.
Talent Show. New this year is the Talent Show. Enter your dog to show off its best trick, skill or talent. Anything goes!
The Famous Basset 500 Race. Get your hounds and other dogs ready for the short and fun Basset 500 race. On your mark, get set and go! The top three finishers in each heat will win prizes and trophies.
Agility Area. Again this year we will have an Agility area for your dog to try out jumping, weaving and a tunnel.
Bobbing for Hot Dogs. Your dog will want to participate in the Bobbing for Hot Dogs activity.
Free Paw Painting. Take home a paw print watercolor made by your dog as a reminder of your fun day. Paw print paintings are free!
Fall Photo Booth. Stop by the photo booth with your camera and take as many photos as you want of family, friends and your dog(s) in front of the fall backdrop.
Face Painting. Be sure to visit our face painting booth this year. Adults and children alike will enjoy this! And we will have powder stencils for the dogs too!.
Don't Have a Basset? Rent one for the day! Many of our foster bassets will be there and available to share in the fun.
Auctions. The auction again this year includes an Online Only Auction that ends prior to the Ramble. This means that everyone will have the opportunity to win items and support the Ramble -- whether or not you can attend the event itself. This Online Auction runs during the month of August.
We will have our one-of-a-kind Live Onsite Auction again this year. So be sure to attend the Ramble to bid on the unique basset items we will have: framed art, basset wall clock, basset cookie jars, basset bird feeder, large stuffed bassets and MORE!
Silent Auction. We will have some great basset items at the Silent Auction tables. Look for a variety of dog items and basset hound stuff that you cannot live without!
Raffle Baskets. We will have dozens of themed raffle baskets this year. There's something for everyone!!
Gift Card Raffle. Don't miss the gift card raffle. We will have dozens of $25 restaurant and store gift cards in the raffle.
