BROOD's 20th Annual Ramble Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 23. Registration opens at 9am. The Ramble starts at 10am.
There will be a day of fun activities, lunch, auctions, raffles, shopping and games and contests for humans and hounds alike. Be sure to come and enter your hound in the Costume Contest, Pie Eating Contest and the Basset 500 Race!
This year’s theme is Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Be sure to be there to help us celebrate 21 years of saving over 3,000 hounds. Many thanks to Joan Portner for her fabulous basset baseball artwork!

Directions: For directions and a map go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/fryingpanpark/#map. Use the main entrance and proceed along the main entrance road to the equestrian barn area and look for signs pointing to the BROOD event parking area. (Do not enter or park at second entrance on West Ox Road for the Visitor Center.)

What is a Ramble? The Ramble is BROOD's premier revenue raising event of the year, and it's also a lot of fun! Before the Ramble, we ask that you gather "pledges" from your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Remember all those Girl Scout Cookies you've bought over the years -- now it's payback time! A pledge sheet is available which will allow you to keep track of the pledges you get. All pledges are tax-deductible for the giver.
Pledge Incentives. The top fundraiser will receive a $100 gift certificate to the BROOD store as a thank-you for raising much needed funds for the BROOD bassets.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need your support. Donations made the day of the Ramble at Registration will qualify you for special thank-you gifts—BROOD leashes, Dog Reminder Magnet Pack and BROOD Flexi Leash. Support our cause and get one of these great items as our way of thanking you for supporting our rescue work. Not a BROOD member? Join at the Ramble and receive a BROOD six-foot nylon leash.
And don't forget you can set up a personal FirstGiving page and do your fundraising via emails and online donations. Once you are on the BROOD Take Me Out to the Ballgame FirstGiving page, click the green Fundraise button and create your special appeal that you can then send to friends and family for them to support BROOD via online donations to the Ramble. Note that if you do collect pledges in advance via FirstGiving, please BRING YOUR RECEIPT to the Ramble in order to be considered for the pledge incentives.
Sponsorships for Individuals. Last year we were privileged to have 82 generous and loyal BROOD members and followers support the Ramble by becoming sponsors. The response was so great that we are offering Ramble sponsorships again this year with new incentives! Sponsors will receive special thank-you gifts: BROOD stainless steel travel mug, collapsible dog bowl, dog bowl mat and reminder dog magnet pack. Each one is a thank-you for your generous Ramble sponsorship.
This is a great way to support the Ramble without collecting pledges. Become a Grand Slam, No Hitter, Home Run, Bull Pen or Slugger sponsor and be listed in the official Ramble program and on the BROOD website. Click here to learn more about individual sponsorships.
Become a Grand Slam sponsor ($1500 or more) and support BROOD at the highest level. Grand Slam sponsors will be recognized at the Ramble with a special banner, as well as in the program and on the website.

Sponsorships for Businesses and Veterinarians. Showcase your business or vet clinic/practice at the Ramble and support BROOD at the same time by becoming a Grand Slam, No Hitter, Home Run, Bull Pen or Slugger sponsor. Vendor Booth Rental. Last year we had great vendors at the Ramble and hope to again this year. For only $50 you can showcase your business and sell items. Or donate an item worth $50 or more and your booth rental will be free!

The Famous Basset 500 Race. Get your hounds and other dogs ready for the short and fun Basset 500 race. On your mark, get set and go! The top three finishers in each heat will win prizes.
Donate Gift Cards for the Gift Card Raffle. We are having a gift card raffle at the Ramble and need $25 gift cards. Pick your favorite national restaurant or retail store chain and mail the cards to: Tracy Yee, 5053 9th Street South, Arlington, VA 22204. You can also bring cards to the Ramble.
Order Ramble Tee Shirts. Now through August 23, you can order screened tee shirts for the Ramble featuring Joan Portner's Take Me Out to the Ballgame design. This year we also have an additional baseball jersey style as well as shirts for children, men and women. Ramble shirts are only available for ordering online for a limited time.
Food at the Ramble. We will have lunch with beverage items and a hot dog, hamburger and chicken breast grill going again this year.
NEW THIS YEAR: Spare Change for the Hounds. Bring your spare change to the Ramble for the hounds. Every penny helps us rescue homeless bassets.
NEW THIS YEAR: Hound Kissing Booth. Be prepared to get kissed by a basset. All kisses will support BROOD’s rescue work, of course!

Ramble Flyer. Help us advertise the Ramble! Print off and distribute this Ramble Flyer.
Don't Have a Basset? Rent one for the day! Many of our foster bassets will be there and available to share in the fun.
Auctions. The auction again this year includes an Online Only Auction that ends prior to the Ramble. This means that everyone will have the opportunity to win items and support the Ramble -- whether or not you can attend the event itself. This auction runs during the month of August, so watch the BROOD website for the auction to begin.
We will have our one-of-a-kind Live Onsite Auction again this year, too. So be sure to attend the Ramble to bid on the unique basset items we will have, cncluding framed art, garden statues, Blue Sky cookie jar, basset teapot, vintage bookends, pillow and more!
Bid on Raffle Baskets. We will have dozens of themed raffle baskets this year. There's something for everyone!!
NEW THIS YEAR: Hound Raffle. We have some great basset items that we will be raffling off. So look for them at the raffle basket table: Charlie cookie jars filled with special dog treats, vintage basset figurines, books and more.
Ramble Games and Contests.
We will have a Costume Contest this year, and anything goes! Dress your dog in any costume and maybe you will win one of the prizes. We also have the Pie Contest again this year. So start training your hound now! Yum!!!
Other contests are: Longest Ears, Best Howler/Vocalist, Best Tail Wagger, Best Butt, Biggest Paws, Best Mixed Up Breeds, Best Trick and Best Kisser.
Accommodations for the Ramble.
The official Ramble hotel is the Comfort Inn Dulles International Airport, 200 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170 (5 miles from Frying Pan Park).
Call the hotel directly at 703-437-7555 to make your reservation at the BROOD RAMBLE rate of $109 a night, plus $25 for each dog. (This rate is good only for Friday, September 22.) The room rate and block of rooms are only reserved until August 15, so make your reservations early.
