Registration at 10 am. Games begin at 11 am.
What is a Ramble? The Ramble
is BROOD's premier revenue raising event of the year, and it's
also a lot of fun! Before the Ramble, we ask that you gather "pledges" from
your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Remember all
those Girl Scout Cookies you've bought over the years -- now it's
payback time! A pledge sheet is
available that will allow you to keep track of the pledges you
get. All pledges are tax-deductible for the giver.
Note that if
you are collecting pledges in advance via FirstGiving,
please BRING YOUR RECEIPT to the Ramble in order to be considered
for the grand prizes. This year we will have two - one is for the highest total amount in pledges and the other is for the highest number of pledgers.
In addition, we will have special incentive prizes for people bringing in $100 or more:
- $100 - vanity dog tag
- $250 - dog tag + T-shirt (but not the Tour de Basset T-shirt)
- $500 - dog tag + T-shirt + BROOD beach chair
- $1000 - dog tag + T-shirt + BROOD beach chair + matching BROOD beach umbrella
For everyone bringing in more than $1000 - you will be honored with a special medal. Our top two winners (the most money and the most number of pledges), will receive beautiful gift baskets and TOP DOG medals and their dogs will be crowned Ramble Royalty for the day.
Be creative to get pledges - mow lawns, take muffins to work and ask for donations, have a yard sale, keep a change jar, sell things on Houndsbay or eBay. Last year's winner made and sold a cookbook with pictures of all the BROOD hounds from her church. We have 60 dogs in our care and THEY NEED YOU!
This year's theme is the Tour de Basset (think of the Tour de France for basset hounds). Our T-Shirts (available at BROOD's CafePress Shop) reflect this theme!!
 SPECIAL GUESTS!
Frank Monahan with Stanley and Norman, stars of the book, "Stanley & Norman, Bad Boy Bassets" will be at the Ramble.
Tom Schreck, author of the Duffy Dombrowski series of mysteries (prominently featuring a Basset Hound!!) will also be at the Ramble. |
|
It's all at one
location again this year (NO RAIN! NO RAIN!! NO RAIN!!!!), so no need to go anywhere else for the fun. Please note that shade
is limited -- but never fear because we will have beach chairs and umbrellas (for comfort and shade) available for purchase. Or of course you can bring your own blanket, chair and shade.
