not
built for snow
I try not
to remember much about my life before my forever family, because I only
want happy thoughts. What I do remember is all of the wonderful
children at the Human Society summer camp who made me their
“project” and named me Barney. Once summer was over, I went to
live with a great foster family. However, they already had two
bassets and although they loved me dearly, didn’t feel that they could
keep me permanently.
Then entered my family. They drove all the way from Delaware to
Virginia to meet me – yes me. They also were looking at another
basset who was a female and very young so I thought I had no chance.
However, my handsome looks and great personality won
them over. Most people seem to want the younger dogs, but there is
something to be said about a mature fellow like myself. See I was
through with all of that puppy nonsense, I didn’t chew on things and I
was housetrained. There are times when age does have its
advantages.
So now six months later, I have finally settled in and I have two
children, Tyler age 9 and Taylor age 6, who adore me as much as I do
them. I must say that this winter’s snow almost did me and my
entire family in -- being low to the ground, it is difficult to maneuver
in two feet of snow! But now with Spring finally here, I am able
to run outside and play with my kids and take walks. At 8 years
old, I can still romp and play and I love every minute of it! Of
course, afterwards I come inside and take a nice long nap on my comfy
bed.
Thanks BROOD (and my family thanks you too)!!!!!
