bogie learns to boogie!

I already had one basset that has been with me for over ten years. Her name is Rosebud and she is what I call a "diva dog." She is the QUEEN of all that she sees but also has a very loving personality.  I decided that maybe she would be happy to have a buddy to play with, but I was very worried that she may not adjust to an intruder in her peaceful and rather spoiled world.  I thought about this for awhile, until I finally logged on to the BROOD website.  I knew I was a "gonner" right then and there.  I looked at the pictures and read some of the stories to Rosebud, and we decided to at least give it a try.

Bogie - Who wouldn't love a face like mine?We went through the application process and were told by the Seldons that they had a perfect dog for Rosebud and me. They told me his story, at least what they knew, that he had been seen for several weeks in the woods until one day he climbed up on a lady's deck and laid there. She rescued him because he was starving, had heart worm etc. and was sadly in need of help.  I am now convinced, after knowing him for awhile, that he went there to get rescued.

Bogie - Aaaahh, sitting by the fire. This is living! The day came when I brought him home but I was scared to death that Rosebud would not like him and I would have to give him back. Just in the time it took to drive him to my home, I knew that he was a very special and loving soul and could not imagine giving him up. When we got to the house, there was a brief bit of tension, but Rosebud began to play with him like I have never seen her play before. To this day they play together regularly much to everyone's amusement and Bogie discovered that my cat is not only a loving bud, but the best dog toy ever developed!  Sometimes, when Rosebud is not in the mood to play, they get together and act so silly I just watch them and laugh. They all now sleep together on the various beds and the cat loves to have his ears licked by Bogie.Bogie - I love my toys!

Bogie tends to wander away without realizing it so I have to keep him on a leash. We don't call it a leash though -- he and I agree that it is our "lifeline" to one another so he doesn't mind it at all.  He is a wonderful soul and extremely loving to all that he sees so I am happy to report that we all live happily together, thanks to BROOD and the wonderful job that they do rescuing bassets!
