you can get involved in BROOD's rescue efforts, fundraising activities and community events -- here are a number of ways you can help out!

Running a first-class rescue organization is expensive. Every penny we raise in BROOD goes directly into our rescue efforts, including providing top veterinary care and paying for the hounds' room and board until we find their forever home.

BROOD's Fundraising Coordinator loves to hear your ideas. If you are interested in any aspect of fundraising, including writing grants, getting corporate sponsorships, or if you have a great idea for a fundraising event, please contact our .

There is nothing more rewarding than providing love and shelter to a needy basset while we look for its forever home. Qualifications for being a foster parent include: breathing, living somewhere with walls and a roof, and being able to distinguish a dog from a dishwasher. We're pretty flexible on everything else! Please contact BROOD's or call us at 301-770-7170.

This is the heart of all BROOD's work -- in order to find the dogs new homes, we have to save them in the first place.

We need more volunteers to visit their local shelters looking for bassets. We also desperately need help transporting dogs from shelters to vets and foster homes in all areas covered by BROOD. Without your help, we can't save them.

So which is more rewarding: watching boring re-runs at home, or hitting the road to rescue a hound? Help us help the dogs we love by contacting our .

BROOD participates in many community outreach events throughout the year, in cooperation with other animal rights and rescue groups, to stop animal cruelty, spread the word about Basset rescue and help homeless dogs. We hand out educational materials, hold mini-workshops, and (of course) show off our irresistable AmBassetDors.

We always need volunteers to help out. Please contact our if you are interested or if you know of any event in YOUR community.

If you don't have the time to volunteer, but you want to contribute to BROOD, we always welcome that kind of help as well!

BROOD places an average of 150 dogs each year, and yet we only have a handful of success stories on our website. Tell us how your dog came into your life. To submit your hound's story, please go to our BROOD Tales form. Complete the narrative and send it to us online. It's never been easier to immortalize your basset!

Or, if you don't want to write a formal piece, just drop a note to our and we'll put it in our newsletter.
